I drive a '98 Grand Espace RXE which has a 'utility' spare. There is no reason why I could not fit a 'proper' wheel if I could be bothered. The space is there and my 'utility' spare just gets hoisted into its position by a wire hawser. There is no reason I can see why a much wider wheel could not be hauled up there. The extra width would mean the 'bottom' of the wheel would be nearer the ground. However, I don't know what changes if any they made to the floor pan area of '99 models Anyone else got a similar or different opinion about what I'm saying?
BTW! Can't resist this!
I was in a Merc MPV last week that got a puncture. What a crap system the Merc has for getting the spare out. The pair of us were filthy by the time we were done.
Gimme the Renault wind-up hawser anytime
