I pretty much agree with everything said so far.
For money v spec you would be hard pressed to beat Renault.
Citroen are cheap and offer good specs, but the cars are cr@p. We had 2 Picassos, the first, a 1.6 petrol was quite god, just gutless so we "upgraded" to a 2.0hdi - it was a lot worse, had loads of niggles and faults, build quality was very poor & dealers were even worse.
We had a 206 - it never let us down in the 2yrs we had it but it was again poorly built and rattled.
I have always been a Ford fan, mostly because I had an E reg Escort for 5 yrs and all I ever did to it was replace the tyres/brakes etc.
We had a Focus that was very good in all respects - except my daughter got travel sick in it, don't know why, this is the only car that has affected her.
We now have 2 Renaults - the Laguna because we liked the spec, design, price etc - also in the 2yrs we have had it it has been fine.We went for the Megane cc because of its looks, spec & price. Had Vauxhall offered us the same cracking deal as Renault we may well have had an Astra Twintop instead, but as the model was only justed launched the dealers wouldn't deal. There wasn't much to choose between them, the Astra had several advantages over the Megane, but also several disadvantages.
I may or may not buy renault again - depends whats around when we are due to change. I will certainly look at Renault but if Ford or anybody else have a decent car at the right price at the right time I would consider it.
