Does the car have any suitably hidden lighter sockets? The easiest thing to do would be to plug into one of those. If the wire doesn't reach, then just buy a cigar lighter extension cable.

If there are no hidden sockets, then go for the extension cable again, lop the plug off the end and connect it straight to a suitable 12v source. On the Lag, you can get a permanent live feed from the back of the central locking switch (centre two pins.) The Scenic might be different, but that'd be a good place to look. You'll need a multimeter to verify polarity (it should show a positive voltage with the red probe on the centre of the socket and the black on the outer shell.)

Whatever you do, don't do what one BMW dealer did for a TomTom owner when he asked them to wire up his GO permanently. They just lopped the lighter plug off the end and wired the lead straight into 12 volts. The problem being that the plug contains a 5 volt regulator. The dealer did get to buy him a new TomTom though
