Have you owned the van from new? When you say you missed the warranty by a few months - how many? and was it a Renault warranty? It is shocking the dealership isn't guaranteeing the work although it is reasonable that if they find other damage inside the engine when stripped down then they have to revise their costs (but 2k just on pistons is too many 's). To contact the MD simply ask Customer Services for his name and send an e-mail via the contact us link on Renault UK website marked for his attention.
If finances are tight for legal sevices you could seek advice from Citizens Advice or Trading Standards, or possibly Small Claims court (if under 10K claim).
