The light could be caused by unburnt fuel in the cat. I'm sure that bump starting a car with a cat convertor pushes unburnt fuel through the cat causing it to fail if bump started regularly.

This happened with a friends K reg Mini Cooper after the alternator gave up and we spent about 3 weeks push starting it!!
