Now an Espace MK2 owner.

Hi guys, just bought an Espace Mk2 TD 2.1.
Why a Mk2, well I've aleady got a scenic RX4 sitting outside with the dci engine and its got a knackered gearbox and before that was stricken with dci probs that Renault couldn't even sort.
Mind you I'm not a newbie to espaces as I had a TXE back in 1989 and another around 1996. But both were Petrol.
So I'm on here to find out the pro's and con's of this diesel model as I Live in the outskirts of Edinburgh and travel back and fro to my work, 155 mls away, every fortnight by M74/M6.
My other car a Citroen BX TGD Auto is propped up on special steel legs and is finally getting its rear suspension rising and going solid problem fixed via a 200 quid BX TGD manual thats getting stripped for spares. And in case you have the answer it wasn't the height corrector or the arm bearings as adamantly suggested.
Also got a Talbot Express 2.5TD based Motorhome. Ah just seen a thread for this.

this is my 1st Renault having just parted with my 5th Rover, i thought i'd have a change and bought an 04 reg Scenic auto expression, i've had it a week now and i'm very pleased with it, i guess at some point i'll need to call on the groups experiance and techy knowledge and hope one day to provide the same.

I have 2 renault vel satis, both 2003....one is a v6 dci auto and the other a 2.2 manual (both diesels). The ride is very bumpy except when on a motorway or smooth roads. Any suggestions......i don't think it is shock absorbers as both cars have only done about 60k miles. Thanks, terry

Hi, I've just bought a Renault Laguna '53 reg (2004), in pale metallic green (not sure what this colour is called, would be great to hear from someone who knows it's name?). It's my first Diesel car as it's a 1.9dci. I was really concerned about buying a Renault when I was choosing a car to buy - due to the unreliability issues that you hear so much about - but really like the modern look!
This is my 2nd car - one I intend to use as a 'work horse', my other car is a BMW M3 SMG and not very economical for my 35 mile drive to work (each way) everyday!!!

hi i have just got a 1999 scenic 1.9tdi and it had no stereo in so iv been to scrap yard and got cd play out of scenic but when i have put it in iam not getting any dash display it i no it will need a code but thought that should come on anyway i have changed the fuse and got the clock and temp on but just cant get radio can you help please thanks paul:confused:

Despite using the internet since I was 12, (now 27 - nearly) I have never regularly posted or read forums. I'm not sure why, maybe I have never looked at them long enough to realise their value, however I am going to make a real effort with this one and try and post regularly.

I love Meganes, I'm on my.... 4th one, and generally love renault as a whole. Got a project in the back of my mind with my 1999 scenic... and the wife has agreed to it in theory (that'll probably be subject to change).

Ive just become a proud owner of a 2006 Clio Expression, 1.2 :D Ive only had her since yesterday and im already in love!!

My previous cars have been a Nissan Micra and a Fiat Punto (which gave me nothing but problems!)

Hi all,

I've just joined up having (fairly) recently acquired a '97 Laguna 1.8 RT Sport.

Not likely to set any hearts on fire with it but the looks are growing on me daily. Could do with some more power for me but it was bought as a cheap family bus anyway.

Previous owner = My mam! :( So not been looked after very well of late, i do know the previous owner to her though and he was meticulous so a few quid in the right places should see things running smoothly again.

Need an engine mount i think, (gearstick kicks back as you come off the throttle) have a pair of droplinks here to go on (O/S knocking) and it really would benefit from a good service.

I appreciate that this is an 'old' and not particularly inspiring model but i hope to meet a few people that are fond of them and know the common things to look out for.

Anyhow that's probably enough for an intro, anyone want to know anything further... just ask.

Scenic 1.9D: Accuracy of fuel consumption on-board display?

I have recently completed just over 550 miles on a 60l tank in my 1.9dCi Scenic II, which I calculate to give me a fuel consumption of about 60mpg, but the on-board average fuel consumption display was about 43mpg when I filled up. Can anyone comment on the accuracy / reliability of the on-board displays?

Hey all, just thought i'd say hello to you all introduce myself abit.

I turned 17 in july, had my Xreg 1.2 clio for about 3 weeks now, very happy with it although i wouldn't mind a v6 in it :)

I'm currently at college doing mechaincs, now in my 3rd year which is mainly about diagnosis using kit like Delphi. So i hope i can help people out in the Ask the experts part of the site, although im sure many of you have alot more knoledge than me.

Hello I thought I would pop in and say hello.
I have joined this forum as I have just bought a first car for my 17 year old daughter,it is a pretty good condition Clio mk1 1.2 RL
I will drive the Clio from time to time and be called upon to fix it ALL the time.
Hence the user name I opted for.
I will want to modify the Clio in a few areas to make it more user friendly for my daughter.
She has learner insurance on it at the moment and has her car test in a month.
So hello Renault enthusiasts.

My Scenic has only done 28000 miles (2004) model
I am getting fed up with the problems and the cost of repair.So far 2 windows have fallen out. 4coil packs needed replacement. 1 damper leaking and needed replacing.Door and locking mech on drivers side not working.NOW a brake recall.When does it end!!!

hi new on site just got a 02 laguna 1.8 thought it strange the climate control had no back light so thought theres always a clever so and so on one of these sites i would look and find out and sure enough found its a common problem..
followed some links to youtube and read what others had put about it being a dry solder joint said it was a 10 min job well if thats the professional pit stop version ill agree could be done but for an amature id give a bit longer :d upside is backlight now working :d
i did go to my local Renault garage to pick his brains first .. waste of time .. all he said was �400 plus for a replacement unit plus labour..
dick turpin does in fact live on lol..
i would recommend you having a go yourself i would gladly pass on any info from my experince to be honest it all just pulled apart gently pry off the fascia careful not to snap anything:eek: 2 spots of solder either side of the resistor quick plug in to check it works and reassemble.. i would mention the lcd came away when i took mine apart and took me a second to see how to but the ribbon back but its all sweet now.. dead impressed :d

Two Renaults

My husband and I run two Renaults, I drive a Scenic, as it's easy for my mother to get in and out of, and my husband runs a Laguna to get him back and forth to work.
We've had 5 Renaults over the last 16 years and had very little trouble.
My Husband will retire in 18 months, and we've been looking around for a car to last untill we give up driving.
I don't like the new Scenic, so that ones out!
We have test driven quite a few cars, then we tried the new Skoda Yeti 2Ltr 110 BHP, what a great car. Holds the bends far better than the Scenic without the roll, we were both impressed. What you get for the money, and with Volkswagon reliability Renault would cost a few thousand pounds more for the same spec.
But, we are keeping the two Renaults for now, for at least the next 18 months. My husband is donating his Laguna to the local fire brigade for them to practice cutting people out of cars, so it will have a worth while end, as for the Scenic?? Give it to the grandkids????

Just found the site and will need to find my way around - please excuse any social gaffes, they are not deliberate :confused:

Joined to find info as I have a SORN'd Clio and need to check the exact model at the suggestion of a friend who works with Renaul Uk and has offered to find a part number that I want to order the part that failed on the A1 approximately 12 months ago.

Seems daft to have a 66k diesel Clio sitting idle when I will need a cage for the winter ice (I am a s/e motorcycle courier)

Enough woffle - if you think that I should have provided more details let me know?

hello all i'm a newbee so forgive me if this is all over the place. i have a laguna 1.8 petrol 2003 and it is starting to give me a bit of hassle when starting. at the moment when i get in i am not sure if it will start or not. sometimes starts 1st time others no chance. anybody out there have any clue what this could be??? i live 75km from where i work so i need this to be reliable.
