I want to know if can retrofit cruise control in this Renault Laguna initiale. I asking this beacuse there is no sign about 3 buttons on the left side of steering wheel.

Also want to know if this car have voice synthesiser because of navi or no. Can retrofit this too?

Thanks for help.

This is a four-spoke wheel, and so can have the control buttons fitted. As mentioned, you need to pull off the air-bag to see if you have the connector for the four control buttons; only a two pin connector, which is black/yellow. (The other connectors are grey for the horn wires, and two yellow ones for the air-bag). If you do not have this connector, then you will need a replacement "clock-spring".
From other threads, you may find that the screw holes are in place, and you just need to fit the switches. If you don't have the bosses and screw holes, then you will need a replacement steering wheel.
The wiring harness in the car will already have the connector to carry the signal onwards. (My Laguna 2 2001 has it)

On this thread, the alternative of wiring the radio remote is outlined, which does not require replacement wheel or clock-spring. I have an improved option for the Laguna; circuit needs redrawing, and then I'll scan it into this thread.

Other switches; you will need the switch to set the Speed Limit or Cruise Control modes, which fits to the right (on UK cars) of the steering wheel.
And there is a safety switch fitted to the accelerator, so that when you *have* to get more speed, it will bypass the max speed limiter. (Think of pulling out of a town, where you have been limiting at 30 mph, onto a main road, where you need 60+ mph. Bypassing the limiter is essential in that case).
And the brake and clutch switches should already be in place.

Right, modification logic.
Firstly, the wiring for the four buttons of the normal steering wheel controls. It shows the resistances between the two pins when each of the buttons are pressed.
Second is the wiring for the radio remote control; colour of the wiring is the definition; I could not find pin numbers.
Note that there are effectively three separate switches, but using common outputs from the three inputs.
Third is the conversion. I have isolated the white wire, which removes the scroll wheel from the mix, since you cannot determine which position is set.
The basic wiring needs four outputs; 0R, 100R, 270R and 900R.
But there are only three pins on any of the circuits. So I had to find a way to get the fourth option, and hence the strange pre-load of the lilac line.

So:
For the "O" function, press the "Source left" button, which provides a short from the orange line to the Grey line.
For the "R" function, press the "XXXXxxxx" button, which provides 100R to the Lilac, links to the Beige and out of the 820R to provide 920R.
For the "+" function, press the "+" button, which provides 100R to the lilac, links to the brown and out of the 170R to provide 270R.
For the "-" function, press the "-" button, which provides 100R to teh lilac, links to the grey and out via the short to provide 100R.

The unused buttons are the scroll wheel (which would have no effect) and the "source right" (which would provide 820R, and so might be a confusing input)

The connectors on the switches (not the body of the switch, but the connector) match the connector on the wiring harness.
So the connector on the harness and switch for the speed-control and cruise-control are both white. (The grey connector is for the ESP-off, which is probably not a useful option to add to the car ;) )

You need to carry out a search for voice synthesiser in this forum. There is a retrofit thread in this forum, somewhere.

You may have a better chance of fitting it since you already have the blue connector (and therefore probably all the wiring, but the voice synthesiser is a separate box (ISTR).

First check is the small speaker mounted behind the grill in the panel below the switches. (I think I have this)
Once you have this speaker and teh switch, the thread (or the owner's manual) may tell you what function you can achieve with this mod.

Hi guys,

I can't start new thread, so i have to hijack this one, my apologies.
I have Laguna 2, as seen in my "garage". I'm wondering if i can fit Cruise Control into my model. I've checked my steering wheel, there is no connector for CC under airbag unfortunately, but i would use radio remote control for that purpose. Under cover, next to steering wheel there are connectors, that gives me hope that it can be done. Only thing that concerns me is that i do not have display between rev and speed meters, is it necessary to CC function properly? What i really need is just keep actual speed, i don't need to manually adjust it.

I would love to hear from you, if this is doable, or will require changing dials, eco etc.

Thanks in advance for your advise.
