Hi all, I recently tore the cover off my driver side wing mirror. It's currently taped together as all of the electrics still work but have been looking for a replacement. I have sourced a new replacement cover & also a second hand full wing mirror. I was hoping someone could advise me what would be the easiest to fit?
It should just press-fit, but I'd be inclined to add a few spots of a PU-based adhesive like Tiger Seal or Seam Sealer just in case any of the clips on the cover or for that matter, the mirror housing itself have been damaged/weakened.
Fit it on a dry day when you won't be driving it until the next day (a small amount of masking tape to keep it located until the adhesive has cured) will ensure a strong, robust & durable bond.
HTH,
Paul
(needless to say, but if the cover needs painting, do this prior to fitting)
Thanks for the advice & the speedy response!! Not sure if I have damaged the mirror housing as well though so will need to check. if I have destroyed the housing, would you know if these are available to buy separately too?
Yeah, will need to check the extent of the damage tbh. Happened when I was on my way to work so just pieced together the bits & wrapped the whole thing in electricians tape to deal with later today.
Hi, My passenger Mk 3 DCI has just been damage, i fear a full replacement, the indicator light is smashed, the mirror is all cracked, and the paint work is a bit grazed, do you know where i could source a second hand unit?
