March 2012 Megane changes

Megane changes for 2012
130bhp 1.6 dci: v nice.
265bhp rs going mainstream v nice
Drl "boomerang" lights nice
Various cosmetic changes ,like black bits now body coloured ,front look etc..well ok depending on your viewpoint,
350 for red pimstriping on the rs seems like a tart up too far.
I have a Jumbo pinstriping roll(3 stripes in different widths) from stylistick! never actually used it cos even 20 years ago pinstriping was getting so common.

Re: March 2012 Megane changes

Combined mpg and emissions n stuff.

The 1.6dci has been around since last year on the scenic.
130 bhp used to be what the 1.9 diesel output yeh?

Emissions, why dont they just put in a turbo bleed that forces clean outside air out the exhaust!.
That would seem too much like cheating.
Anyway , with cold egr, improved turbo pathways and the old chestnut of stop start , no fuel goin downhill ,teflon coated camchain, carbon coated cam lobes, Variable pressure oil pump! and all sorts of other goodness(btw a variable pressure oil pump doesnt seem all that good to me).
The 1.6dci 130 bhp diesel now has the same emissions and fuel consumption as my "old" 1.5dci 90 fap
The teched up to the same standard 1.5dci 110 is now 10% better on fuel consumption and emissions thn my dci 90 fap.
The still available "old" 1.5dci 110 fap is still 3-4% behind on mpg and emissions.

Urban mpg
new 1.5 110 72.4 mpg ..er booyah if you can get it
new 1.6 130 dci and old 1.5 90 dci supposedly the same urban consumtion of 58.8 mpg
booyah too if you can get that!

Performance : 112-124 mph max quoted, not anything to enthuse about either way.

acceleration:
well the new 110 and old 90 are quoted as 12.0+ 0-62.
The old 110 was definitely quoted as sub 12 sec.
The new 1.6 130 is quoted at 9.8..say 10 sec.

Impressive enough sure even tho for 130 bhp and extra torque its not mind blowing, but the technical doodads , there is now a 4 year guarantee but seems like there are just more components to fail/have coatings wear out after 4 years

Re: March 2012 Megane changes

Forgot to mention the petrol(wonder why )

A new 1.2l turbo engine with 115 bhp!, sounds nice if I was still in the petrol market.

Re: March 2012 Megane changes

Yeh the cosmetic changes are subtle yet very nice. In particular the LED DRL's now across all models. From the looks of things, it does not look like they have changed the headlamps, instead the bumper has been re-designed to allow for the gap to fit the LED unit beneath the headlamp. They may have incorporated the headlamps with the LED unit but doesn't look like it from the picture. I'm going to have a look when I pop in to my dealership after the easter holidays.

On the RS, I do like the fact that they've increased the LED's from 3 to 6 on each side.
