1.9 DTI - 1.9 DCI differences?

I've been doing a bit more head scratching and now I'm wandering how different the old (well late 90's/early 00's) clio DTI engine is from a 1.9 DCi?
I know the DCI is common rail which brings the obvious performance, economy and emissions benefits but what are the other differences?
Are their 8v and 16v versions of the DCi engine? If not which are they all?

Anyone got any underbonnet pics (preferably a few showing the rear of the engine's proximity to the bulkhead) of any 1.9dci, a clio 1.5 dci and a clio 1.9 dti?

Simon.

Re: 1.9 DTI - 1.9 DCI differences?

The 1.9 DTI is direct injection turbo diesel is 8v and intercooled. Available as 80 bhp in the megane, scenic and clio and 100bhp in the megane, scenic and laguna. There is also an automatic DTI available with the 4 speed DPO auto on the megane, scenic and laguna. 1.9 DCI 105 actually replaced the 2.2 DT 12 valve multivalve turbo diesel engine and has common rail direct injection and is 8v. The DTI is more reliable and more economical then the DCI and although not overly refined is fairly quick for what it is. The DCI is more refined but not as economical as the DTI. What car are you considering.

I don't have a garage just a driveway. The Modus 1.6 16v VVT Dynamique Auto is my Grandparents car which I also drive.

Re: 1.9 DTI - 1.9 DCI differences?

It's not a car I'm considering - more a conversion on a car I already have.
I'm in the thinking process part of putting a 1.9dci into a clio. To me I think it would be a great combination - low weight and diesel so lots of MPG (especially if I can get the 6-speed 'box in there too) and loads of torque for easy driving anywhere in whatever gear takes my fancy.

The reason I asked about the differences is because the DTi is origional fitment in the clio - all be it the pre-facelift to mine. This would make me think I could use DTI parts (mounts, etc) to fit the DCi as long as it's similar in layout - mostly that it's an 8v.
So are all DCI's 8v or are there different ones?
