Hi iam not that sure about drilling holes i had no holes to drill in my Espace 2002,if you find that you do not fitting it is very easy but if your not that confident about wiring it up i would get a Auto electrician to do it at about £70 for twin electrics plus 2 hours labour at a independent garage, i hope this helps Donald.
Not too tricky, though it'll be easier if you can get the rear of the car up on ramps or axle stands.
Most towbars these days come with captive fixings that mean you don't have to drop the bumper. You just pop them through the slots, twist them to lock into place and then bolt the towbar into them. If your bar comes with standard nuts and bolts to fit the rear cross-member, then the bumper has to come off. Though that's not such a big deal either. The only snag that I hit was that I had to scrape off some of the underseal to get the bar mountings to go into place.
There will also be arms to connect to the chassis rails further forward. If I recall correctly, these should also come with an insert to shove through the chassis rail so that you don't crush it when you tighten the bolts. The left hand one is a bit of a pig to do because of the exhaust shield (don't do this job with a hot exhaust!)
Electrics are a different kettle of fish, though if you've done a towbar before, they shouldn't really be a problem. I wouldn't bother with bypass relays on the Lag 1, though some might disagree with that viewpoint.
Be sure to torque all bolts to the values specified in the installation guide, and the job should be a good 'un :d
There's no easy route through for the electrical wiring, so you'll have to drill the boot floor for that. The other points should all be pre-drilled, though I think the chassis rail holes may be filled with plastic plugs.
Why is Renault not part of the fastest cars in the world ? Most of their Cars are all under 5-13 Sec for their 0-100km/h, I wish they can make faster cars which would beat Porsche and some other bigger speed demons out there
Hi there I have just bought a second hand tow bar for my Lag 1 from ebay and was looking on forum to see how to fit it, and I saw the post about the arms going to the chassis legs . My one didn't come with them do I need them? (only planning on pulling a small trailer)
Had a look at the towbar on mine, I would say that you need the chassis legs no matter what you are towing, on my car they are the only thing fixing the towbar to the body
Yours might be different and you might get away with it but I would be very carefull.
