Megane TDC sensor clean

I'm having stalling in low speed problems with a 1996 Megane, which this forum leads me to believe is probably only the TDC sensor and the thing to do is unbolt it and give it a good clean with WD40. Unfortunately, I am not mechanically minded and don't really know what I should be looking for. This thread with pictures suggests the sensor is a banana shaped thing on the right side of the engine, but I couldn't find anything resembling it in my car. Would it be different-looking in my old Megane? Do I need to take anything else out to get to it? Thanks in advance.

Re: Megane TDC sensor clean

Hi demozeno and welcome to the forum

From what I've seen of TDC sensors they all look pretty much the same, although some are hidden much better than others.

You need to be looking from the Gearbox end of the engine, the TDC is located at the top of the Gearbox bell housing, if you know or can image where the flywheel is then you're on the right tracks. I've got to be honest though, I'm having difficulty find mine and I know what I'm looking for & where it should be.

Thank the Lord ATM I don't really have the need to know

Re: Megane TDC sensor clean

Welcome to the forum as for the TDC i agree With Hondo and you will just have to look where the right side of the engine meets the top of the gear box and you will see it's the bracket thats shaped like a bridge .

Re: Megane TDC sensor clean

Thanks Hondo and it66 for replying. I guess I'll just have to look harder for the banana/bridge thing.
