have just had to replace my alternator and belt, the belt i was given is a 5pk1750, after many efforts trying to fit this belt i have had no joy, i bought a haynes manual to see if i was doing something wrong, i wasnt! the belt just seems too big, it is a 2000 1.6 16v engine with air condition unit, but the belt just seems too big, does anyone have some advice on what i may be doing wrong?
This is for the 1999 to 2003 F4R 2.0 litre engine and is a very similar design to your K4M 1.6 except it has the water pump driven by the auxiliary belt so has 7 pulleys. I know it has happened to me and it's possible to route the belt incorrectly so the belt is slack. The later F4R engines after 2003 should have the same auxiliary belt configuration as yours? but sorry I don't have any info on those.
I wonder if this is what is happening to you? Or maybe you have been given the wrong belt?
