Espace 2.2 dci how do u fit/reset a Clutch plate

Hi,

Ive just recently fitted a new clutch, pressure plate & thrust bearing to my 2001 mk 2.2 dci espace.

Some has told me that i needed to reset the clutch to the pressure plate before fitting to the flywheel.

Something about the clutch needs to be locked onto the pressure plate with special tooling.

Help ????

Friction plate needs centralising before you do up the pressure plate or the gearbox shaft won't line up, thats all i can think he means

Thanks for your prompt reply, i dont think these clutches are as the standard set-up ie using a clutch mandrel to hold the clutch plate in place central to the pressure plate before attaching to the flywheel.

Its a bit more than that. I did have a look at a manual somewhere that did explain how to do it, but i think you need some type of jig.

Is it a dual mass flywheel?

Yes it does.

Just been reading that g9t engine rebuild manual i mentioned earlier. It looks as though the pressure plate has to be pressurised by some special tooling, a press of sorts and springs locked into place before remove the pressure..... has anyone done this before ?? help...
