reason for oil in air filter - Clio II '03 1.2 16v

Im having the notorious engine idle problem...fluctuating idling/juddering gear lever etc...and oil in my air filter..

What i want to know is if the idling problem and the oil in the air filter are related, and in any case what is causing the oil in the air filter and how do i cure it??

When i was having a look about it, i took off the airbox cover and noticed oil inside, and the lower part of the filter was covered in oil. I removed the filter entirely and havent replaced it yet. Coincidentally perhaps, but the idling problem hasnt happened!
thanks

Re: reason for oil in air filter - Clio II '03 1.2 16v

i fear i have discovered the answer to my own question from a previous thread i just came across...PCV Valve perhaps?

I have NO IDEA what this is, but i have three questions..

1.Is it MOST LIKELY to be this PCV valve?
2. is it cheap or easy to fix?
3. If it isnt looked at is this a VERY BAD problem!?

Ol in the air inlet system is usually down to a faulty PCV valve.

Depending on the engine type it will be located either in the breather pipe or the rocker cover.
