Laguna III 2.0 150Dci - Where's the Oil Filter ?

Hi,

I know that this sounds a stupid but I wanted to do an oil and filter change on my Laguna and can't find the oil filter. I've gone to the trouble of identifying the right oil (RN0720 because of the FAP) but when under the car doing a recce I couldn't locate the filter.

There is a black plastic cover/cap under a seperate housing at the front of the engine just in front of the sump that looks like it unscrews but the pipework going into it looks like coolant pipes.

This is a 2008 Laguna 3 tourer with the 2 litre 150Dci engine in it with the particulate filter in the exhaust system.

Can anyone help of even send a photo ?

On another note, I get a very brief puff of light grey smoke on a cold startup only. Is that normal ? I'm keeping the oil level at about 1/2 wat on the dipstick.

Regards,

Derek

Re: Laguna III 2.0 150Dci - Where's the Oil Filter ?

I just bought a Laguna Sports Tourer 2.0 dCi FAP 150 2010 and need to change the motor oil soon. I bought oil and the oil filter, but have not strated to look for the filter yet. The filter is a "open" one - not in a tin cup. There must be some cover to open where the filter is inside.

Re: Laguna III 2.0 150Dci - Where's the Oil Filter ?

Hi, I had the same problem but it all turned out to be a lot easier than I thought it would be.
Once the undertray was removed, not easy when you don't have the car up on ramps, the sump drain plug is towards the back of the black steel engine sump cover. You will need an 8mm square plug driver tool to remove it. Remember that you are draining about 7 litres of oil so a couple of bowls may be needed to catch all of the oil.

A copper washer will be needed to reseal the plug.

The filter is inside the black plastic housing that is in front of the engine, just in front of the black sump cover. Unscrew this and the filter comes out with it (remember that more oil will also drain out from there).

The 'O' ring that seals the black plastic cover into the housing should be replaced (mine came with the filter).

It's all very easy. The most difficult bit was finding a suipplier if the 5W-30 oil that was compliant with the RN0720 specification.

I hope that this helps.
