Unhappy Check Emissions....

Hi all,

Driving the Megane this morning and the check emissions light illuminated, not flashnig though.

I always carry a couple of spare coils so pulled over and spent half hour swapping them around but the light was still on and the engine continued to run normally.

On returning home i hooked the vehicle up to CLIP. Straight away flashing amber ''DF106 Catalytic converter functional fault'' was displayed.

With the engine at optimum operating temperature the upstream oxygen sensor was fluctuating between 70-750 mv, heating resistance 26 ohms.

The downstream was static at 410 mv, heating resistance 0 ohms.

Is the fault with the cat' itself or the downstream sensor?

I've cleared the fault, the lights gone out and not come back on after 15 minutes idling.

TIA

Re: Check Emissions....

Thanks for all the replies on how to test a oxygen sensor .

Seriously, unless your a electronics engineer, {which rules me out }, its almost impossible to test them properly.

I've ordered a universal sensor and i'll the see if the light comes back on or any fault codes show up.

If so the cat' has failed or is on its way.

But i won't be parting with over 500 for a brand new genuine Renault replacement .
