Alternator Belt

i need to replace the alternator belt on my clio 1.2 Vreg, does the timing belt need to be removed 1st.
Currently in eyeballroy's garage:
clio mkIII, Focus CC3 FJR 1300

as far as i know you dont need to as the alternator drivebelt is on the outside of the engine.
Currently in Dan94's garage:
1998 Renault Clio Grande 1.2 Petrol

Hello and welcome to the forum.

No need to go anywhere near the timing belt.

You may have a twin belt arrangement on your car if you have power steering,if you do then I would definitely recommend replacing both belts together.

thanks all for the replies, but i looked a the engine and it looks like the alternator belt is nearer the engine with the timing belt on the outside (or am i being stupid!) anymore help and advice will be much appreciated, Roy

The timing belt is in behind the plastic covers on the end of the engine,you are probably looking at the power steering belt and alternator belt (seperate belts for each).
