Renault Scenic 2.0 2001 vvt how to set the Timing

We have a Renault Scenic 2.0 2001 Engine striped and ready to re assemble, how do we set the VVT Timing ?.

for the 16v you will need a timing kit /tools around 30 on ebay
you can make them and there are threads around showing you how like the cam locking tool and size bolt needed to lock the crankshaft

cheers, we have all of this and the tool kit, its the setting of the actual Variable Valve unit on the timing belt end of the cam.

the haynes bible has all of this in it along with everything else needed info wise cant remember if there is a thread on this

It's just a case of ensuring that the 'dephaser' pulley is positioned fully in one diection relative to the cam when the belt is fitted. Unfortunately, I can't remember whether it's 'fully left' or 'fully right'
