Question Kangoo Timing belt Change

Hello, Just joined this forum, & I'm hoping for some advice on the Kangoo timing belt change.
My Kangoo Est. is a 2001 & mileage is now 54K
I've been quoted over £200 by Renault main dealer to change the belt. I'm fairly mechanically minded, but advice about the ease/difficulty of the job would be much appreciated.
Thanks
BeeJay

I'm assuming your engine is 8V which is one of the easier ones to change the cambelt. Book time is 2.3 hours. You do need a tool to tension the new belt and I wouldn't recommend you to do the job unless you have previous experience of changing cambelts - a mistake can be costly! There is a good description of the job in the Haynes manuals - it's the same engine as the Clio/Megane 8V.

Unhappy

Thanks for that Davebee, I am a time served machanic. The problem with that statement is that, whilst I've always serviced my cars & 'bikes, it's a hulluva long time since I worked in a garage, so am out of touch with "modern" motors. & special tools, I don't have. So I reckon it's the dealers job.

Cheers

BeeJay
