Smile Clio 1.2 16 valve fault code p0711

We also have a CLIO engine management problem.
We have a Renault CLIO 1.2 16v 2003 MKII. We recently purchased the car for my daughter to drive and sucessfully drove approximately 60 miles over the week.We used the car in the morning and went to go out later in the day. We drove approx 400 metres and then the management light came on , The emmison light also came on.We took the car to the garage who cleared the code and the car drove for another 60 miles. Since the mamangement light has come on the garage cannot clear the fault.
I have since purchased the diagnostic software and OBDII connector to talk to the ECU. The engine management light is on with the car now running in limp mode. I have a code of P0711 - Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Circuit Range/Performance,
When reading the code forums this code points to automatic transmission cars,
We have a manual transmission car,
Do you know if this fault code is the same for manual transmission as well as automatic. I cannot see any sensor on the manual gearbox. The car has had the following work done on it recently by both the previous owner and myself.

New Throttle pedal conrol unit
New Throttle body replaced
New Battery
New ECU loom - not sure which one (Garage invoiced for new loom but I think it has been repaired)
Coil and plugs 12 months ago
New TDC and loom (again not sure which one as this is the LH ECU loom)
New fuel injector.
When not in limp mode the car drives extremely well with no problems whatsoever.
I have disconnected both the MAP & LAMBDA sensors to prove them, They are both working, My diagnostic sofware is showing the MAP sensor readings out of spec and the same on the LAMBDA sensor., When reconnecing and resetting the ECU both faults clear.
I still have the P0711 fault remaining with the car in limp mode.
The black ECU cover has been removed from the car prior to my purchase. The LH ECU loom has been repaired at some stage and the cabling looks to be good.

Any pointers would be appreciated

Re: Clio 1.2 16 valve fault code p0711

Very few code readers are fully Renault compatible and give totally eroneous and misleading readings as no doubt you have discovered.

Having the fault codes read by a compatible code reader may help narrow your search for the fault - either a Renault dealer kit or Can Clip are the better code reading systems.

The most common cause of the emissions warning is usually due to unburnt gases entering the exhaust either by over-fueling or a cylinder misfire. When this ocurs the ECU can go into limp mode to prevent engine or CAT damage.

As an ignition fault is the most common cause I suggest you investigate the coils and spark plugs first.
