I've had the same problem with my Megane except instead of eating the belt the pulley damper itself was worn so that there was a distinct knoocking sound when the engine was ticking over. I removed the pulley yesterday and have found there are a number available over the net.
I'm virtually certain I didn't move the engine since removing the pulley so I'm assuming I can just put a new pulley on without worrying about timing? Just don't want to make a "minor" job develop into a major one!
Is there anyone out there who can reassure me please?
