Smile disable immobiliser?

I had the same problem, eventually it stopped working altogether and I could not start the car. Renault dealer wanted £59 just to diagnose the problem and if it was found to be the key that would have cost me a further £140. In the end I decided to have the immobilizer override cost £230 money well spent because the problem could have come back once the warranty had expired for whatever they had decided was the problem.

Hi Joanne05, you dont say if you put the key in the ignition after unlocking the car, as thats when the immobiliser is disarmed, not when you unlock the car.

To be honest I dont think opening the car is related to your problem ... have you changed the batteries in the key since the problem has occured, also do you use the plip to unlock the car or do you put the key in the door lock?

Hope it helps
Why is it the older I get .... the better I think I was ?
