Renault Espace - Drive Shaft Problem

Hi, all, new to the site, found it looking for help. Problem - '94 diesel espace - threw a drive shaft (n/s), replaced it , threw that one. Checked round, found front o/s engine mounting shot, changed both. Rebuilt d/shaft from the bits left, fitted it, threw that one too!! Have checked shaft dimensions, etc, all ok. Got scrap shaft and wheel bearing assembly, fitted these. One close inpection before driving the car,the problem seems to be that the bearings in the inner assembly are siting right on the edge of the cup, so checked engine position, gearbox mountings, chassis to try to find out where the extra 1/2" to 1" that is stopping the inner bearings fully entering the cup has come from. can't find any reason for this problem. Car ran ok on the first drive shaft for some 3 - 4 years, and has not been in an accident. ANY IDEAS anyone, as it's beginning to look as though I'll have to scrap the car. I've also got a '98 Espace, bought with a faulty ECU, but that's another story !! Jeff

Well. after a lot more hours of measuring, dropping bob lines to the floor and chalk lines every where, it turns out that the chassis has actually been moved one side rom the original drive shaft walloping it!! looks like a scrapped car is going to be the end result, as I don't think it's recoverable.
