What is the symptoms of faulty map sensor?

i have renault megane 2003 1.6 dynamic vvt and engine has some kind of misfiring ,i am thinking of map sensor can any one tell me what symptoms faulty map sensor would have?

i used to have a 1.4 clio on which i had to have the map sensor replaced. the main symptom was quite bad hesitation when accelerating after changing gear , that's really all i can remember , hope it's of some help to u.
Currently in glennspeirs's garage:
1999 renault scenic 1.6(8 valve)

The MAP sensor can give various symptoms,but as Glennspeirs rightly says,it is mainly on acceleration as the throttle is opened that causes the problems,usually by way of quite a violent hesitation.

What have you changed/illiminated so far Linux44?.
I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
