Air Bag warning light

Hi All
My 02 Laguna 2 has done some strange things in the past but this is a new one. The air bag light come on only when the vehicle is accelerating, let off the gas the light goes out, now the thing i find curious, if there is a fault, even if its an intermitten fault should the air bag warning light should come on and stay on and log a code in the SRS control module like ever other car on the road, have been a mechanic all my working life. I have had the usual fault of the wiring under the seat on the OS,the air bag light come on and stayed on, in the end i had to cut the connector out and simply soilder the wires together, this fixed the fault and have access to a code reader but only at work. So if any body should know if an intermittent fault will cause the warning light to come on intermittently would be a big help. Thanks

I worked on a Rover a while ago in which some wiring under the carpets had been disconnected and the airbag light was on. When the wiring was re-connected the light went out. Perhaps you've got a loose wire somewhere and the system is self diagnosing?

Hi
I worked for Volvo for over 20 years up until recently where I became a college lecturer, teaching motor vehicle, on all the Volvos it would log a code and leave the light on,I think this is true of the German cars and the Fords, all i can do is check it out as soon as possible,it just seems a bit mad, after reading some other Air Bag light on threads, if you valet your car like i did yesterday and move the seat there a chance you will bring the air bag warning light on! i have two Laguna a 02 and 07 model the new one hasnt give a monents trouble and still pleased with both cars, and now looking for a replacement for the 02 car, thinking may be a Megane or Clio sports.

Hi
I think i have got to the bottom of it, the only code in the air bag control module was a CAN net work code fault, communication fault, the only thing i can put it down to, is when the car was first started it laboured to start, the battery was a little flat but enough to start the engine,as the car had been stood for some time. May be the low battery voltage caused this fault, since the battery has been fully charged its been ok, i know it sounds silly but CAN net works are very sensitive to voltage and i think that was the fault, nothing more than low battery voltage. it may be some use to any one with a simular problem.

Re: Air Bag warning light

Was the battery the answer? I have been experiencing the same fault over the last few months. When I accelerate the airbag light comes on and if I keep on accelerating it will go out? Was thinking that as I had the headlights on that the voltage might be down enough so that when I put foot down on the gas a momentary drop in voltage due to load from various areas could cause the problem. After accelerating a bit the voltage will increase and then the airbag light will go out? sound like a good theory? Have checked battery and seems to be fine. Starts always first pop and no reason otherwise to doubt battery condition.
