Clio 1.5 dCi timing belt change

I have decided to take the plunge and change the timing belt on my car myself. I have all the necessary tools and will be changing the timing belt and tensioner, the water pump, the alternator belt and tensioner as i've been advised that its best to do all these jobs at the same time.

Are there any common pitfalls i need to be aware of before i start the job and is it best left to the guys in the workshop or provided you take your time is it a fairly straight forward task?

What is the best type of thread locking glue to use on the studs etc? The old trusty haynes manual keeps referring to putting threadlock on here there and almost everywhere!

Also removing the stud on the crankshaft pulley, are they normally very tight and spin the engine as you try to slacken it off? Does it need a sharp wallop with a hammer to loosen it?

When replacing the water pump, does the gasket go back dry or with sealer on it?

Any advice and tips on how to best proceed would be really helpful.

Many Thanks

Anthony

Wish I had the bottle to do it myself.
By the way my local Renault dealer only charged me 250 to change the belt on my Clio 1.5 dci 80 around 18 months ago. The local independents were asking around 700.

I am not trying to put you off.........

The dealer I used is in Newcastle Upon Tyne, on Scotswood Road. They are a Renault Main dealer.
I only happened to ask how much it was when I purchased my wife's Megane and was surprised.
They had the job done on a morning.
