megane 1.5 dci

Hi i've looked around and whilst there are similar threads with this problem they dont quite fit for me, so sorry if this is repeating old ground.
My problem is with my '05 megane 1.5 dci, recently the toxic fume filter lamp has come on and stayed on, however, neither at the time nor since has the performance of the car been affected, no undue smoke, fuel economy is unchanged, engine runs and idles fine, so what should i be looking at as a fault?
thanks
chy

Don't panic too much. Has the car been reluctant to start sometimes? I'm asking this because if the engine tries to fire you will get excess unburnt fuel going into the exhaust cat, and this will give you that warning. If that's the case, then it'll probably burn itself away after a while and the lamp will go out. Another place to check however is the sensor on the exhaust and if I remember right it's called a Lambda sensor, try disconnecting this give the contacts a good clean and re-fit. Good luck.

Hello, an excellent forum with lots of help. Was there any progress or resolution in this case, I have exactly the same situation with my 2004 1.5dci (Auto) Megane. The light has been on for about a month now but absolutely no running issues or loss in performance, I have cleaned the EGR valve, removed the battery to see if it would clear to no avail. Haven't investigated the exhaust sensor yet, anyone else had and cured the problem?, cheers

Hello, just to update anyone that is searching this thread or has the same problem. I have had the problem for about 2 months now and tried the EGR clean, glow plug check, cleaned every pipe / hose filter I could find plus disconnected the battery to see if it would force a re-set but to no avail. Still no apparent running problems. Just about to throw myself and my wallet at the mercy of a dealer.

Yesterday, started the car at the end of the day as usual, warning lights gone, turned off and re-started a few times and still no warning so presume all resolved, fingers crossed.

Whilst I'm happy it has gone would have liked to have known what or why! Bide my time until the next helpful light appears!
