Grand Scenic 08 - Location of Fuel Drain Plug

I am told that there is no fuel drain plug fitted to my 2008 grand scenic diesel, can anyone help on how to drain the fuel tank?

Re: Grand Scenic 08 - Location of Fuel Drain Plug

Very few modern cars have drain plugs on the fuel tanks otherwise fuel theft would be just so easy.
It may be possible to syphon most of the fuel via the filler neck. Some garages and breakdown services have a special pump for the job. Otherwise it may entail removing the fuel tank sender unit for access and a looksee inside.
In modern cars the only sure means of cleaning the tank is to remove the tank and have it professionally flushed.
Why do you need to empty the tank anyway??

The fuel pipes run up the drivers side of the car. There are two unions just below the drivers seat on the underside of the car. If you disconnect the pipes there the fuel will run out.

Petrol in a diesel perhaps? If so be sure to change the fuel filter too

Thanks for that, the contamination is alge and other growths. This seems to be a more common problem today due to the bio-diesel being mixed with traditional diesel.
