Renault Megane 2 - Opening Bonnet When Release Cable Snaps*FIXED*

I have just had a problem getting to the engine compartment. The bonnet release lever moved but the bonnet didnt release.

I came on the forum for advice but didnt find anything to help, although I saw threads which suggested the dealers may break one of the grills to get to the catch.

Just for people in the same situation.

If you prize the near side grill up from the bottom working along with a couple of flat bladed screw drivers, starting from the headlight and taking care not to damage the bumper, the grill can be removed largely undamaged.

In my case, I put my hand up to where the cable runs behind the front upper beam and pulled it, luckily this released the bonnet.

Was this on a Megane 1 or 2 (one with the 'ar$e')?.

Brilliant... gonna have to try this in the next day or so. Shame though that I've got a spare passenger side grille but not driver's side (R26 bumper)
