ABS - replace ring sensor, CV joint or drive shaft?

Hi,

My ABS and service light appeared on my 53 Renault Clio 1.2 Extreme 16V so I went to my Renault Dealer. They put it through the Diagnostics machine and stated that two ABS (front) rings were cracked and needed replacing. They said the ABS rings are glued on to the drive shafts and hence both drive shafts needed replacing to fit the new rings. For this they would charge £565.18.

I have rang Halfords, Kwik Fit, local dealers etc and they have quoted me prices for ABS rings (£12.95 - to £41) CV joints (£36) and drive shafts (£350). I am rather confused now - is it possible just to replace the two front ABS rings without having to replace the CV joint/drive shafts?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks!

As far as I know the reluctor rings are a tap on fit using no adhesives.
Try the link below it may assist. It also gives some advice on fitting and repair or reluctor rings.

Re: ABS - replace ring sensor, CV joint or drive shaft?

Many thanks for your help - I will buy two R.Rings and get them fitted. Hopefully this will make a difference! If not, I will have to go the drive shaft route.

Thankyou!
