05 Laguna - Loud noise pulling away in 1st & 1st gear movement

Hi all,

Just a few days ago my Laguna (1.9 dCi) started making a rather scary loud noise when pulling away in first - hard to describe - a kind of "vooooooooooooo" sound (I feel like a wally typing that lol) and also the gearstick is moving in 1st, as if it's trying to jump out of gear maybe.

Car is going in to Arnold for a service/MOT shortly, but worried this could be an expensive repair and/or not covered by my extended warranty.

Anyone have thoughts on what the cause could be?
Due to the movement I'm thinking it's the gearbox.

One of my workmates just commented as I drove by him last night & he said he thought my exhaust had fallen off!!

i am having exactly the same problems with my 2003 model. it has now got to a stage where it is throwing it out of 2nd gear on high revs. please let me know if you have resolved this prob, and how

sounds like the bearing in the front of the gearbox has gone. Not going to be cheap whatever way you look at it
