I have a laguna 2, initiale, petrol, 16v ide, 03 plate. The management light periodically comes on when the car runs sluggish, as though working on 3 cylinders.
After reading many threads, it is possible that the TDC sensor and EGR valve could do with a clean or replacement. I have been unable to locate these. Please can someone help me find the location of these (in baby language ).

EGR is a NOx (nitrogen oxide and nitrogen dioxide) reduction technique used in most gasoline and diesel engines.
EGR works by recirculating a portion of an engine's exhaust gas back to the engine cylinders. Intermixing the incoming air with recirculated exhaust gas dilutes the mix with inert gas, lowering the adiabatic flame temperature and (in diesel engines) reducing the amount of excess oxygen. The exhaust gas also increases the specific heat capacity of the mix lowering the peak combustion temperature. Renault launched the first European direct injection petrol engine. It avoids the troubles encountered by Mitsubishi by implementing in a completely different way.
Instead of pursuing ultra-lean air / fuel mixture, they adopt ultra-high EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation). EGR, as mentioned here before, reduces fuel consumption by reducing pumping loss as well as by reducing the effective engine capacity during light or part load. At the lightest load, Renault's IDE engine enables as much as 25% EGR compare with conventional car's 10-15%.

Hello psaggu unless someone knows better, I'm pretty certain that EGRs are a diesel only
The TDC sensor is located on the bell-housing by where the gearbox and engine join, I'd like to say they're all a doddle to find, but although I haven't spent a great deal of time looking I still haven't seen the one on mine yet.

hi , your engine , if its an F5R ,(ide) engine , then you do have an egr valve, sitting at the back of the engine , and the tdc is as above.
you should get a diagnostic check/ codes read out first to point in the right direction, as its quite rare for an egr valve fault on these.
