HELP! Electronic handbrake help!

Hi everyone, first time poster!
I have a problem with my scenicII 53 reg, 2.0 16v. on this model it has the auto release system when you apply throttle the handbrake releases automatically however, the other day i went to go out and it wouldnt release, so i released it manually (it came off fine and drove normally), also the service and p light are constantly on in the dash. Anyone have a cure or reason for it??

This also happened to my wife. I took it to Renault and guess what they can fix it for £539!!! WHAT!!! Going to call Renault UK and try to get them to contribute to the cost of parts. If I don't get a good enough offer I am going to take the ting apart and my brother can check the components on the circuit board. Already check the motor and it seems ok so must be an electronic fault. We let you know how I get on and even take photos (if I remember)

This seems to be a more a more frequently recurring fault and I wonder if eventually Renault will do what they did with the LCD dashboard which incidently I have just had changed. £100. Oh yea. And also I wasn't charged for the diagnostics for the handbrake. Oversight?

oh blimey, that alot of money!!! my husband has checked the brakes and they are all fine, manually it is perfect but just wont come off automatically! has is going to get under the car and clean in the parking control unit as i've read somewhere it might be that!!!

hi simon just wondered if you managed to have a look? i have looked though the haynes and think it *could* be the clutch switch, my husband is going to take the dash apart tomorrow to see if we can reset it and see if that works!
