Hi there, not sure if any of you remember, but I posted on here a little while back looking for the perfect Espace...
http://www.renaultforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=76306
Well I thought I'd update you all, looks like I found it!
Bought this on
Ebay a few months back. It was perfect. White, V6 and most importantly, under 500 quid!
The only downside was an automatic gearbox. A very big, broken automatic gearbox as it turns out. SO back I went on here trying to find solutions, none of which were forthcoming.
In the end I just had to bite the bullet and take it to a gearbox specialist to be rebuilt. I got a complete rebuild, torque converter and new pump for 950, all in! I was very chuffed, some of the horror stories on here put the estimates at twice that
Anyways, so today loomed and I went to pick her up. Driving my rally cars back from the garage is always the acid test for me and this was was a peach, I had a very good feeling indeed when I pulled up outside mine, so a wash and a damn good hoover later and she was looking respectable.
What next? well our theme is not just a renault espace, but an Espace shuttle! We are in the process of procuring a lot of black vinyl to turning her from an ordinary MPV into the dodgiest space shuttle ever to grace a launch pad

Here's an idea of what we're going to do.

This is a space shuttle.

This is a low rent copy made in MS paint this afternoon

I think you can see where this is going...
Now to the plans! a successful rally involves lots of preventative maintenance. She feels pretty good already and in addition to the complete 'box rebuild, has already got the following new components from the previous owner:
Exhaust cat,
RHF suspension spring,
front and rear discs,
front and rear pads,
Oil,
sump washer,
NSF CV Gaiter.
What I need to know from your good selves, is what I need to address for this car to reliably cover anything up to 2500 miles in 4 days. Zero breakdowns is the ideal scenario and I need to know what to repair / replace / address before I hit the startline! Any hints on what is especially fragile on these things would be very much appreciated
Also, as with a lot of these things, I am also on the scrounge for sponsorship! You have to turn up with 500 quids worth of sponsorship on the startline, and to this end I am selling advertising space on the car.
This is where you come in. If you run a business and fancy taking part in the cheapest motorsport sponsorship deal this century, then all you have to do is visit here!

A donation of just 20 quid secures your logo on the side of the car, which will then be driven round europe by 4 idiots, clutching inflatable Solid Rocket Boosters and wearing space suits. Larger donations can secure larger logos and choice of position, but these are negotiable. All you need to do is donate 100% securely via the above link and send us a high res copy of your logo, we'll do the rest.
Wish us luck!
