Question 9 year old Scenic leaking coolent

My 9.5 year old Scenic is leaking coolent from as far as I can see the engine. I can see it slowly dripping when the engine is runnig. I have to top up coolent fluid every week.
The tubes and Radiator look fine.

I am just wondering is the car still worth it ?
Is this going to cost me hundred of pounds or more ?

Thx
Ron

Re: 9 year old Scenic leaking coolent

That would depend on where on the engine the leak is. Maybe a picture would be helpful. It might be the waterpump or the thermostat? I'm not sure about the pricing of said parts in Britain, but they should not be tooooooo expensive

edit: oh, btw: do you have whitish smoke out of the exhaust?

I would also check the thermostat housing and the waterpump. It could be a just bad gasket.

Hello Ron,welcome to the forum.

If you tell us which engine the Scenic has then we may be able to give you a few more common places where coolant can leak from.

Re: 9 year old Scenic leaking coolent

Thanks to you all for your first reply.

I will have a look at it later again and see if I can make a picture of it.

It is a 1.6 16V petrol engine.

thanks
