Unhappy 1998 Renault Laguna Not Starting/ Wont idle....

Hi Guys,

I am new to the forum, and i am having quite a bit of bother with my laguna.

Biggest problem i Have at the minute is that it wont start. The engine will turn over but will not fire. It will start with a tow start and then blows out alot of blue smoke. It has also in the past had problems idleing. When it started it would need quite a lot of revs to keep the engine on. As soon as i let go of the throttle the engine dies.

I have removed the TDC sensor and gave it a clean and checked all connections but still no joy. The ignition will turn off, the immobilisor light will come on and go off, then when i turn the key the engine just turns over but wont fire up.

Hopefully someone out there can help as im pulling my hair out at the minute.....

Many Thanks in advance...

Re: 1998 Renault Laguna Not Starting/ Wont idle....

Hi Guys,

Just a quick update.

I disconnected the battery and left it for about 30mins and the re-connected the battery and she started first time.

Could this be an ECU problem or immobilisor problem?

Again any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Re: 1998 Renault Laguna Not Starting/ Wont idle....

Hi again guys,

Im reaaaaaaaallly hoping someone can help me here.

A little more information for you....

I just tow started the car again... seemed to be putting out a lot of blue smoke.

I then let the car idle over for a minute then turned it off and tried to start again. It started no problems.

I then locked it up and went away for 10mins...came back and again no joy. The engine will turn over but will not fire up.

I am now completley puzzeled as i dont think its the immobilisor as its starting with a tow.

Could the engine be getting too much fuel or not enough air?

I really dont know and would really appreciate some help.

Many thanks
