Scenic II Drivers side Electric Window has a mind of its own - Intermittent fault

Good Morning all.

My 53 plate Scenic is playing up. The driver's side electric window has developed a mind of its own.

On Saturday night I dead locked the car (Double pressed the lock button) and the Drivers side window kicked into life and wound it self open.

Spent the best part of 2 hour trying to get the damn thing shut in the dark - tried turning engine on and off, opening a closing other windows, checked all the fuses in the glove box, connecting the battery and reconnecting but no life what so ever.

Gave in and locked the car to go and get something to cover the window up with until the morning and the window rose about an inch. At this point I tried turning the engine on again and the button then worked so was able to close up the window.

Since then the fault as been intermittent. Sometime the controls will work and other times it just dies again.

I have since deadlocked the car numerous times and sometimes the window stays shut and other times it winds open.

I don't think its water as we've had no rain and checking inside the door under the trim the interior of the door appears dry, and likewise the loom into the control on the door, and on the motor appear in good order and all wires appear tight into the looms.

Also I have noticed that occasionally when the controls are working when nothing is being pressed there is a noise coming from the window motor as if the motor is trying to open or close the window.

I though it may be the switch that is faulty, but that doesn't explain why the window would wind open occasionally when the deadlock is used.

Searching through the forums I can't see anyone with a similar issue, The regulator clip is intact.

Any ideas or suggestions on what else I could try before it goes to the dealer's would be really appreciated

Thanks you in advance for any suggestions

My 04 plate scenic II has just developed an identical problem. its still sat outside with a bin liner taped over the window.

Ive checked fuses and switches, they seemed fine.

Ive yet to try disconnecting the battery from the car to reset the ecu.

will keep you updated.

Sorry to hear that your having the same problem, frustrating isn't it!

I've tried disconecting the battery but this didn;t resolve the issue and it reoccured.

Its been fine all day today, I seem to find that it will work fine, then the next time I come to use the car it has stopped working again, then will randomly start working again.

I got a feeling its something to do with the power and the window motor, going to try getting back in the door over the w/e to check the voltages.

will also keep you updated if I resolve

mine did this yesterday. I managed to get the window back up using the Fuse 40 trick, so it is now up, but it no longer works on the switch.

Re: Scenic II Drivers side Electric Window has a mind of its own - Intermittent fault

Did the 40a fuse trick with the deadlocks to get the window closed.

Took the trim off the door, removed the window control module (small black box that sits on the motor) opened it, sprayed inside with wd40.

let it dry out for a day and plugged it back in and it worked.

However i did notice some corrosion on the connector pins. will need to clean them up before i put it all back together .
