Hello.
Recently acquired a almost mint example with lots of well maintained miles (161000) and one of the first with this engine, March 1998. This is fitted with the F9q dti 1.9 diesel engine. It came with a "slightly sticky accelerator cable, needs a bit of wd40 mate".
It is not dangerous to drive and only occurs occasionally with the revs' sticking for about 5- 15 seconds before coming down to 800 approx'.
Armed with a can of said lubricant, i tried this remedy, but have found that there is no such cable. At the end of the acc' pedal there's a cylinder with an electronic connection. No cable. At the pump there is only wired connector, which is clearly the other end of the acc' pedal cylinder cable.
Clearly this a 'drive by wire' connection and no amount of lubrication will work. Any idea about what this connector / sensor is called?
Can it be replaced , and if so and what end?
Pedal or pump.
Alternatively could the
EGR valve be the culprit?
No warning lights or other driveability problems.
