Instrument Panel Replacement?

Renault have just replaced my instrument panel under warranty, which has reset the mileage reading. Is it correct that they are unable to adjust this to display the cars true mileage?

The car is a 56-Plate Clio Dynamique S 1.6 VVT.

Any advice would be appreciated.

	VVT VVT Variable valve timing, or VVT, is a generic term for an automobile piston engine technology. VVT allows the lift or duration or timing (some or all) of the intake or exhaust valves (or both) to be changed while the engine is in operation. Two stroke engines use a Power valve system to get similar results to VVT.

There is a post on the forum by our resident Renault UK representative....stating that they cannot/will not because it would possibly allow clocking of the mileage. He says that the dealer can provide you with a letter stating the mileage previous to the dashboard change.

Strange that Renault will not adjust the dashboard mileage to read correctly for fears of "clocking", when there stance effectively clocks the car anyway!

There are several aftermarket companies who will "correct" mileage on renault digital dashes.
