Replacing the dreading instrument panel on 2004 Scenic!! Mileage

Right.... I have just bought a 2004 Renaul Scenic, the dash lights have not gone off altogether that I know of but has an ear piercing squeal coming from it and when this squeal stops (which is for about 5 secs every now and then) the lights do get brighter. I have got this checked out with my garage and they have said it is this that is making the noise. As you can imagine how annoying this is while driing, I have to just turn the radio up to overpower the noise. Renault will not change it for me because previous owners have had some sort of 3rd party part put on last August. If I change the instrument panel, will I lose my mileage and do I need to do anything if it does reset? Thanks

Re: Replacing the dreading instrument panel on 2004 Scenic!! Mileage

I'm sure that you'll loose the mileage if you change the unit, but I believe that there are companies that can correct this for you if you are worried about it.

Renault will not allow the mileage to be altered by the dealers iirc, they prefer to give a certificate that shows the original mileage.

I suppose you could take a digital photo of the dash with the date set to show on the photo, before the change and keep the last MOT to show mileage.
