Renault Megane (55reg) lcd radio/dash display disappeared??
Hi,
I have searched and serchaed for the solution to my question and although some people have asked similar questions i don't think thesolutions they have received have been relevant, so hope this isn't a duplication - i've been looking for days!!
I have a 55 reg megane and have had a few problems with the electrics of late.
Firstly started off with radio beeping and then switching itself off after 20 mins, also noticed it wasn't turning off after engine was stopped and door being opened which it has done since i got it. At the same time as this the display disappeared from dash lcd (although time is still visible) and the hand control for radio stopped working. Over the course of about a month the display has worked on and off, when it's off the hand controller is not working when it is displayed the hand controller does work.
I've sorted the other bit s out which included cigarette lighter not working, window closing in stages and fuse for washer pump needing replacing (garage did this).
The problem I am left with after garage sorted pump out is that the radio is not working at all. I have a feeling that the radio code just needs putting in but as i can't see the radio display on the lcd display screen i don't know what to do.
I think there is power to the radio as when i turn the power on and press the buttons it beeps.
I have looked at many people with the same problem but the diagnosis is usually change the bulb - there's no bulb obviously on an lcd (or so i assume?!?!)
Have booked into evans halshaw where i purchased along with extended warranty, but i know they'll ask me to agree to a diagnosis fee (£80) if the problem is not covered under warranty which i feel is a rip off due to paying extra for the warranty and not being told about the fee required before they'll even consider looking at my car!! a joke I know! and also given the problem arised as a result of their work.
If there's a solution that means i don't have to take it to EH i'd rather save my money!
ps the radio has always worked regardless of display or not, only after having it seen to by EH has the radio completely stopped working.
Thanks
