Kwik fit MOT

Hi,

I see Kwik fit are doing mot's for £35, anyone had one done?

Call me cynical but surely at this price they will undoubtedly look for problems to make the bill up!

I have a 55 plate Scenic Dci and convinced the vehicle will sail through, however if they find something to do it will be a waste of £35 to take it to another garage.

Seems a bit of a gamble to me.

Re: Kwik fit MOT

I wouldn't even take a pushbike to kwikfit.

The best MOT places are small garages, they can't afford to lose business so will let things like noisy exhausts pass.

Re: Kwik fit MOT

I dunno Olli, I know a couple of my local indi garages have a reputation for being a bit fierce on MOTs, it's a long time since I found what you might call a "friendly" MOT tester.

I just had my MOT done (through my local Renault dealer) at HiQ for £35.00, and they didn't find anything dubious for the sake of it, just one tyre which I already had my doubts about!

In defence Kwikfit, a couple of years ago I was due to go on holiday with the family in my old Nova which developed an exhaust blow the Sunday before, Kwikfit were the only people open who had something in stock, they put it up on the ramp, looked at it, spent 20 minutes with some thin-sheet steel, clips & sealant and sent me on my way for a fiver as it wasn't worth replacing the whole section. I think even with national chains you can still find "mechanics" who will fix rather than replace, it's just luck of the draw!

Re: Kwik fit MOT

I'm afraid I don't know what the costs are, but couldn't you take it to a council run MOT testing station?

From what I understand that have no interests whatsoever in starting, let alone completing any required repair work.
