Espace Panoramic Sunroof

Typical when the sun shines the sunroof and interior blind plays up. I have a 05 plate Grand Espace.
I went to open it the other day and the blind went back as normal, the roof made the intial movement up but refused to go back but in the process it made some really loud clunking noises as though it had jumped the drive teeth( if there are any ). I managed to get the roof back down by pushing the button, when i tried to close the blind it now only goes 2/3 of the way back.
Has anyone had the same problem or does anyone know how to get to the mechanism to sort it out either by resetting it or stripping it down.
All help would be appreciated.

Re: Espace Panoramic Sunroof

Just a thought have you tried opening the glass by using the button and giving it a little help by gently pushing it with your hand . Maybe there is an obstruction or needs a bit of grease. If you could get it open there might be a better chance of seeing what the problem is

Re: Espace Panoramic Sunroof

As an update, i've been experimenting with a few things and i've found that by holding the button in for about 10 secs the blind returned to the normal position. Subsequently i've been "working" both the blind and sunroof frequently and things are returning to normal. If either get stuck or misbehave in any way i simply keep the button pushed in for 10 secs and things reset.
I now think the mecahnism was simply in need of lubrication as it hadn't been used for a good few months.
Fingers crossed, problem solved.

Re: Espace Panoramic Sunroof

Hi, I am new to this forum and as someone who has just purchased an espace (06) I wanted to enquire about peoples similar experiences with the sunroof.

On the one I have sometimes needs a little help to get past the first part of the movement, it is only sometimes and if you don't help it when it needs it it simply pauses and then goes back to closed (a bit like it's hitting a blockage)

The other thing is that when it's closing it judders, but seems to close fine.

A indi mechanic has looked at the motor as says it has a worn sprocket that connects the motor to the sunroof (I think he said it's nylon) but upon enquiring with Renault it's not available as a part and is a whole new motor. 550 seems a bit overkill for a sprocket?

Anyone else had any experiences like this?

Many thanks in advance
Luke
