Question Cam belt replacement

Hi
I have a 1996 renault laguna with a F3R engine i would like to know if i renew the cam belt do i need to take it to a Renault dealer to have the correct tension done using their special tool.Has anyone info on this i would be most grateful

The official answer would be yes, but I have changed a few Renault belts with no problems. I just used the old rule of being able to turn the belt through 90 degs at its longest point.
Remember though you are doing this AT YOUR OWN RISK . If you want to be sure then get Renault to check....

My best advice would be to go to a specialist who knows exactly what they are doing! We have had many cambelt jobs to rectify after an amature has attempted and failed!

There is no reason to go to a dealer unless you really want to pay their labour!
