scenic problem,using indicator,dash flashing

we have just come home(car running fine all day) and indicated to turn into our road.....all hell brakes loose!
the dash started flashing and beeping
th indicator is working,as are the lights(we checked them when we got on our drive)
but if we put the indicator on to turn left then the dash flashes and it appears as if the light unit at the back is beeping(could be wrong but sometings beeping)
now if we put the headlights on the noise and flashing goes!?!

any ideas folks? we need to replace the bulbs?
Currently in poodle's garage:
2000 renault scenic 1.9tdi
