Electronic Failure Renault Scenic 54 Plate

Hi

Looking for some help. I have a54 Plate Scenic and on Sunday I had to call the RAC out twice. The dash is displaying Electronic Fault. Window wipers are doing their own thing all doors are showing open on the dash, All doors are locking and unlocking and steering lock showing locked when it is not all this whilst I was driving. then stopped the car and could not stop the engine running had to stall the car to stop engine. The instument cluster then went blank. Car wont start now and there is absolutely nothing showing on the instrument cluster. Got car towed to renaulton the Sunday , after two days they were sure I had a flat battery so they convinced me to put new battery in so £180.00 for new battery and diagnostic test later they phoned to say car was ready went to collect car and nothing still nothing working on cluster and car wont start. they are now trying to figure out what the problem is I think it could be cluster but they are saying its not. I dont think it was ever the battery. I replaced the cluster in October so it is only about 8 months old these are all the symptoms I had the last time.

I had a similar fault, car would not start, wipers on, all sorts of things displayed on the dashboard, lights on , engine fan running flat out etc only way to stop various things such as wipers going was to disconnect the battery.
I know a very good auto electrician ex Renault employee . Came to look at the car - I feared the worse and a large bill but within 30 minutes he had traced to to a broken wire on the wiring that goes to the engine ECU (located near the battery)
Repaired broken wire and all fixed.Charged me £50 - he has travelled 35 miles to get to me!

Hi, the car will still run if the instrument panel is faulty, I hope they would have checked the upc computer as water ingress could give similar problems.

Hi thanks. Renault have done diagnostic which came back ok. Would this show on that?

Hi it may have a stored fault but it should be checked manually.
