2003 Semi auto clio *limp mode*

Hi,

I'm new on here seeking help on my clio.

when i start it up it runs fine on tickover for a few minutes or 10 minutes then goes into limp mode.

when i start appling the throttle that speeds up the time it takes to go into limp mode.

when i put it in gear and drive it will drive for a few metres then go into limp mode.

ive nad a diagnosis done on it and it came back as throttle pedal, so i replaced this and its still in limp mode, and nothing showing on the diagnosis.

basicly when in limp mode i press the throttle and get nothing ?

Can anyone shed some light on what the fault is ?

Hello,

you have put in your post title that your clio is semi auto so I assume you are referring to the quickshift gearbox. Anyway if a diagnotics scan has been done and a faulty throttle pedal has been diagnosed (do you not mean throttle sender) maybe it needs to be programmed to the cars ECU and the fault cleared for the gearbox to function correctly. Have you tried it in manual mode to see if there is any difference.

Harry.

I don't have a garage just a driveway. The Modus 1.6 16v VVT Dynamique Auto is my Grandparents car which I also drive.

Yes the fault codes have been deleted and putting the gearbox into manual makes no differance, it will go into limp mode just standing there

Re: 2003 Semi auto clio *limp mode*

its very rare a pedal goes wrong, if its a 1200cc they suffer with throttle bodies and the loom to the throttle body, also theres a block connector in the fuse relay board by the battery which the throttle wiring runs through which can suffer with water ingress and poor continuity through the connector. Do you have the codes to hand? and what if any warning lights come on?
I`ve also seen brake switch faults just depends on the codes you`ve got.
hope this helps a bit
