Worried laguna owner

Does every laguna owner have problem after problem with their car?

Last Nov 2009 I bought a Jan 2007 mkII laguna 2.2 deisel auto sport tourer initiale with 75000 miles from a small dealer. It had been owned by Renault and drove very nicely and was immaculate.

I have done about 5000miles with no problems and now, after looking on this forum numerous times, every time i go to start a journey I think 'is this going to be the start of trouble'.

Is there anybody out there that has or had a laguna that is no more problematic than any other make.
The clio's, megan's etc do not appear to suffer like the laguna, or is it that most people are like sheep and once one starts to complain they all do.

Hopefully you will be able to put my mind at rest.

Re: Worried laguna owner

I think alot of the reason that there seems to be many posts about problems on the Lag II is that there are alot more of them out there due to their popularity as a rep car etc.

The Laguna II phase I does seem to have alot of common faults. Your Laguna being a Phase II should have had most of the Lag II common faults ironed out, so should be pretty good tbh.

I had a few issues with my Laguna II that I had but despite that I still loved it to bits (maybe not at the time of the problems) and do miss it even now.

I would stop worrying about it, enjoy the car and relax in the comfort of being able to lean on this forum for help incase of troubles.

Re: Worried laguna owner

We had a Laguna II 2004 1.9dci - had it almost 4 yrs and the only fault we had was a faulty window regulator - fixed in one visit to the dealer under warranty.

Now have a 2010 Laguna III - 3mths old and so far so good.

Re: Worried laguna owner

I adore my lag 2. bought it when it was 6 months old, and i expect it to still be running in 10 years. and if it is, ill likely still have it. as long as you change the oil and filter at half the mileage that the service interval says, most of the common problems shouldn't happen to you.

Re: Worried laguna owner

Thanks for your encouraging comments fella's. I also felt that most, if not all, problems should have been sorted and will 'enjoy the car'.

Would you believe that since posting, the rear windscreen wiper has started to play up. On inspection it appears that a stud that is stuck to the glass has come unstuck. I have just restuck it with an epoxy glue and will reassemble tomorrow!
