Buying Advice please

Hi Guys,
I am new on here and just after some advice please. I am currently looking for a Renault Magane MK1 Convertible 1.6 between 97-2000. Just wondering if anyone could let me know if there is anything in paticular to look out for fault wise or any models with known faults to steer clear of.

Any comments or advice greatly apreciated.

Bear in mind there are two phases, AFAIK phase 2 updated version was introduced in 99 - slightly different at the front. I'm also aware of problematic engines on phase 1, but i'm sure a mechanic can advise you better on this

Just need to find a decent one now that hasn't been wrecked!! Seen a few buckets so far!!

SB is right, there are 2 phases on the megane, pre 99 and post 99, the post 99s tended to have colour coded bumpers and better engines
